If you’re one of the lucky ones that is in an area where Google’s cellular network Project Fi is available, then you might want to update your Android app. The new version 1.2.1 now has a widget that will help you monitor your data usage. This comes in handy since what you pay the network actually depends on your data consumption and so you would need to have a way to see whether you’re going over or you still have some ways to go before you’d have to pay more.

If you’re using your device’s built-in launcher, and if you’ve updated your Project Fi app, all you have to do is long press on an empty space on your home screen and then look for the Project Fi data usage widget. Then you’ll be able to monitor your data usage directly from your home screen easily and see if you need to tone down on your Internet browsing or video streaming.

Another minor new feature that comes with the update is the ability to toggle on/off your call forwarding feature. Just choose any number from your list and then toggle the “forward calls to this number” if you want to temporarily disable call forwarding to that number. When you want to turn it back on, you don’t need to reverify the number anymore.

The Project Fi app update also brings the usual bug fixes, including data usage showing one day into the future. This did not mean that the app is psychic, only that there was something that needed to be fixed. The update has rolled out to users, so it should arrive on your device anytime now.
