While their first iteration was strictly an activity tracker that aggregates all the daily activities you wanted to monitor, Polar Loop probably realized that in order to compete with the current wearables in the market, they needed to add something else to its features. The newly announced Polar Loop 2 now also includes smartphone notifications and vibration alerts, as well as more features and options for the users to choose from.
The brand new Loop 2 not only brings you these all-important (although sometimes not so much) notifications that come from your connected smartphone, but still maintains its activity tracker nature by assembling all of it into data that can be stored and reviewed later on. What also makes it standout from the other wearables is that there is a feature where you can add heart rate data through Bluetooth heart rate sensors, which only very few are doing right now.
Some other things that can be tracked by the Loop 2 are sleeping patterns (it switches over to sleep tracking at night), distance travelled, steps taken, calories burned (if you input your weight and age, plus the goal you want to reach). And if you’ve been sitting around doing nothing for 55 minutes, it will give you a vibrating alert to remind you to move around.
There are 3 band colors available, and they are made from soft silicon. The 38mAH battery will last for 8 days of continuous tracking, and it uses LEDs for its display. You will be able to charge it through a proprietary USB cable so unless your friends also have Polar Loops, you’d better be careful not to lose it. The Polar Loop 2 is now available on their website for $119.95.
