Niantic’s Pokemon GO may not be the gaming juggernaut today that it was when it launched midyear, but it is still going strong – strong enough to still beat a few records here and there. The game’s revenue from July to December has just been released, and it has reached the USD$600 million mark, faster than most popular games you can care to name.

Even these days when there are significantly less people playing Pokemon GO than when it launched, these numbers are still staggering. Niantic’s game reached the $600M mark 2.5 times faster than Candy Crush, with Pokemon GO reaching the figure in a span of just 90 days. In comparison, Candy Crush needed 200 days to get to that mark.

You would think that big earning games like Clash of Clans and Puzzle & Dragons would at least go head to head with Pokemon GO – they do not. Both those games required more than 400 days to get to that amount, and those games have massive user bases.

The truth is, Pokemon GO’s user base has dropped off significantly after Niantic went after rooted devices and those using third party services and apps. Maybe that will change and they’ll be able to gain back players when updates like Generation II, Pokemon trading, and peer-vs-peer battles come out.
