So if you’re wondering when the new Pokemon GO update would roll out, that time is now. Niantic just updated their hit augmented reality game and we’re getting some badly needed bug fixes with it. But an interesting addition is the testing of a new Pokemon tracking system in replacement of the much-maligned “Nearby” feature.
Niantic is fixing a number of things with this new update. A speed-specific reminder has been put in place to make sure players are not playing while driving. Trainers must confirm they are not driving – like in the Waze app where you confirm you are not the driver – in order to continue playing. On the gameplay side, improvements were made to make a curveball throw more accurate.
The interesting announcement is the installation of a new system to replace the “Nearby” Pokemon tracking feature. We’ve tested it out to find out that it has been renamed to “Sightings” and some cool new grass visuals were added to the feature, although we haven’t exactly tested out how it works yet.
Niantic also said that this new feature was being tested and rolled out to some Pokemon GO users, so it might be possible that this feature won’t be available for everybody. Get the update from the Play Store and let us know how the new features are working for you.
