There’s that gap in Niantic’s augmented reality game Pokemon GO when you’re trying to level up after you’ve reached trainer level 25. From here, the grinding is almost torture as the number of experience points you need to reach the next levels are so darned high. Add to that, what you encounter from day to day would be your normal Rattatas and Pidgeys and Spearows. But Niantic is rolling out a new feature that might make your daily Pidgey farming worthwhile.

Niantic will be rolling out what they call “Capture Bonuses” to the game pretty soon in an upcoming update. What this does is basically give you bonuses for the types of Pokemon that you constantly keep catching, and you get medals for it. These medals in turn will give you a better chance of capturing better Pokemon of that specific type.

So if you keep catching Pidgeys, your capture bonuses will stack up under the Normal and Flying-type Pokemon. This will then give you better chances at catching rarer and higher level normal and flying types. Niantic says as an example that if you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal (capture bonuses for the Fire-types), your chances to catch Pokemon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.

So it looks like Niantic is trying its best to keep you playing the game. Watch out for this new feature, possibly in a new update which will roll out pretty soon.
