Mobile games are oftentimes a solitary sport, but there are times when you’d want to play with a friend on your smartphone right? Right? Well, whatever feelings you may have about two people holding on to one device, you have to agree it’s a novel idea, and brings back memories of playing on game consoles with other people. That’s basically the appeal of Versus Space Battle, an air hockey kind of game but only more futuristic and with ships, space, and all.
The game does not have single player campaigns or even an option to play with AI. It is really meant to be a social kind of game, with both players trying to swipe little balls of energy on to their opponent’s side. Don’t think that a game this simple would also look minimalistic and plain. The 3D graphics come complete with reflections, light, and particle effects as well. It also has a back story (well, kind of) where people finally realized that conflicts will never be resolved by shooting each other to death. Instead, they created playgrounds in space where you can settle your differences by shooting balls of energy at each other. Well, at least you don’t get to kill innocent bystanders that way.
Through simple swipe gestures, you can attack your opponent’s space, defend your own, and evade the attacks being lobbed at you. This is a multi-touch game and it even has options to change the lighting, depending if you’re playing in a bright space or not.
Versus Space Battle is available for free download on the Google Play Store. There are no in-app purchases but there are ads to interrupt you in between games.
