Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of scary mobile games yet. Okay, in this case, the name alone is supposed to be scary, but the actual game isn’t, unless you’re scared of combined dungeon crawler and infinite runner type of games. Skeletomb (see what we mean about it being supposedly scary?) is actually a fun, retro arcade game that you can enjoy and not get frustrated with.
The developer actually called the game “charming”, and if you’re into the whole 8-bit retro feel, then yes, you might agree with them. There isn’t any deep, underlying backstory here. Your hero just needs to go through worlds that have traps, pits, enemies, and the occasional environmental hazards. And of course the further you go, or rather your hero goes, then the greater the damage you will sustain from your surroundings.
And every time you get to play a new game, you are actually going through a unique one since the stages here are randomly generated. The artwork and music have both been patterned after the most popular retro games from the 80s and 90s, so the gameplay isn’t something so complicated, but rather familiar, if you liked playing those games in your childhood. There are Adventure, Endless, and Labyrinth modes to choose from.
You can download Skeletomb from the Google Play Store for free. There seems to be no in-app purchases and that’s a good thing as you can now enjoy the game without worrying about additional stuff you need to buy.
