Pixel QI

Pixel QI is one of the more reliable manufacturers of screen displays in the market although it’s not as popular. The company was put up back in 2008 but its founders, couple Mary Lou Jepson and John, decided to leave to join Google X. Because of their move, no one was left to manage Pixel Qi. And so as expected, the company is now out of business. This means no more Pixel Qi display will be manufactured for future use.

This is bad news for those who believe that Pixel Qi displays are more advantageous. It’s one great product because it can operate under both reflective and transflective mode. Such allows more visibility under low light conditions, offering a more efficient power usage, and improving eye comfort.

Pixel QI was able to supply its display technology to several companies. It was used by some 2.2 million devices. Tablets by ZTE were released with Pixel Qi screens. Other companies using their technology include Hydra-TW, Clover Systems Sunbook, Notion Ink Adam, and Innoversal Lattice. Brand 3M even invested a lot of money on Pixel Qi back in 2012, hoping to use the business for bigger industries, the government, and the military—veering away from consumer electronics.

We don’t know if 3M and Pixel QI had any success with the plan but we’ve got sad news that the business is out for good. With no executive team handling the company, Pixel QI really can’t go very far now. Problems with manufacturing and supply have been heard from the company’s previous partners like Floyd and Harris and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) so maybe Pixel QI really can’t deliver.

The bad news will certainly have a big impact on several companies and manufacturers but what can Pixel QI do if its CEO and founder already left the same company they put up. The main office in California can’t be contacted as phone seems out of service. It’s the same with its office in Texas.

We hope to hear more from any Pixel QI representative to shed light into the matter. We’ll see.
