A lot of industry pundits were surprised when Google announced the Pixel C tablet, a high-end device that would compete with a number of combo tablets out there in the market. Some rumors of specs surfaced, but there was really no news of when it would be available. Until today, as news of details from reported Pixel C benchmark leaked out, and the device being tipped for a December 8 launch.

Some specs of the Pixel C tablet were already given from Google-based sources – for instance, that it will have an NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor and a 10.2-inch display with resolution of 2560 x 1800. That will be supported by 3GB RAM, a choice of 32GB or 64GB internal storage, and an 8MP/2MP camera combo.

What these benchmark leaks bring us is a bit more detail – the processor is clocked at 1.9GHz, with 4 ARM Cortex A57 and 4 ARM Cortex A53 cores in big.LITTLE configuration. We also see it running Android 6.0.1, something fairly rare in the wild. The benchmark numbers for Geekbench show 1426 points in single core performance, and 4429 points for multi-core. For comparison, the Tegra K1-powered Nexus 9 gave us 1884 and 3204 respectively.

A lot of evidences now point to a very solid high-end tablet, even the pricing from Google – which pegs it at USD$499 for the 32GB variant and USD$599 for the 64GB one. There are also a lot of rumors pointing to a December 8 launch, and if that pushes through, we should be seeing the Pixel C tablet shortly.
