India is considered to be one of the emerging markets that has the potential to change the landscape of mobile phones in a few years time. With their consumers constantly looking for affordable smartphones with decent specs, a lot of the OEMs have released devices specifically for the region only to meet this demand. Panasonic has recently announced that they are introducing a mini version of the Eluga S smartphone, which they actually released in the country just recently.
The Eluga S Mini may not seem a lot at first glance, but if you’re in the market for a smartphone that has the basic functions that you need with a little extras thrown in the mix and it will not cause you to break a bank, then this may be something you’ll consider. It has a 4.7-inch IPS display and runs on a 1.4GHz octa-core processor and comes out of the box with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory which can be expanded through a microSD slot.
The camera has an 8MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash and a 5MP front-facing one. It only has 3G support, which is okay, considering the state of connectivity in the country. More importantly too, it has dual SIM support, which is pretty important for an emerging market like India.
The Eluga S Mini will only be available in white color with “innovative Frost-effect design. Panasonic is pricing the smartphone at just around $141 (INR 8,990). Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division of Panasonic India said that they have worked on giving the Indian market multiple options when it comes to choosing their next smartphone buy.
