If you were ever in the market for a protective case for your smartphone, chances are, you would have heard of the name Otterbox. It’s almost synonymous to smartphone case protection. This time we hear the guys at Otterbox banging the drum a bit, as they reveal to the public what makes their brand what it is.

They call it the Otterbox Certified Drop+ Protection – this is basically a seal that means the case you are buying from them has undergone a barrage of physical testing to make sure that your smartphone is really protected. Tests range from UV exposure, extreme temperature, jeans pocket wear, abrasion, drop and so much more.

“OtterBox Certified Drop+ Protection means that OtterBox cases are tested by us and built for you,” says OtterBox President and CEO Pete Lindgren. This basically certifies that the cases they sell can “stand up to the rough-and-tumble, hectic, non-stop lifestyles of today’s smartphone users.” That means putting the case through more than 20 tests – including a drop test and one where they put the case in a tumble tester together with day-to-day things like keys, coins, sunglasses, and wallets among others and tumble them around.

Have you tried an Otterbox case? Would care to comment on your experience? We would love to hear from real-word users on whether or not Otterbox cases do protect your smartphone or not.

  1. OtterBox makes very nice cases that are very expensive and I’ve had quite a few, usually you can find inexpensive quality cases from amazon that are just as nice for a fraction of the cost.
