At Oppo’s launch of its F1 smartphone in Mumbai today, they also made the surprise announcement that soon, they will be releasing a Plus variant of the F1. It will of course be called the Oppo F1 Plus and it should be a slightly bigger (hence the Plus name) than the current one and may even improve on already impressive specs, specifically when it comes to its selfie features, which is a big selling point of the F1.
The OEM didn’t give much information about the upcoming device yet, except to say that it will be an upgraded version of the Oppo F1. It will also come with a bigger 5.5” display with FullHD resolution, compared to the 5” HD panel of the current version. It will also have 4GB RAM, which is pretty great for a device (The F1 had an already great 3GB). We can also assume that camera-wise, it will be even better than the 8MP front-facing camera of its parent device (or at least have a “more sophisticated experience), if the F1 Plus will also be marketed as a selfie expert device.
We’re assuming that the Oppo F1 Plus will not be that different from the F1, apart from those mentioned above. It will probably be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC and will have dual SIM support and LTE connectivity, plus a 13MP main camera. It is expected to be released this April (at least in India) for around $395, a far cry from the $235 of the F1.
Meanwhile, at the Mobile World Congress next month, Oppo will be unveiling “breakthrough tech” in terms of mobile power solutions and a smartphone camera innovation. No word if they will also be offering a sneak peek into the F1 Plus.
