It never hurts to make announcements ahead of a big showcase like CEDIA 2016, which says it is the biggest gathering of audio-visual related products. Japanese consumer electronics company Onkyo has previously announced that they will be unveiling their NCP-302 wireless speakers at the tech show and probably one of its biggest draws is that it supports almost every platform or connection available in the market right now. It is a multi-room speaker in keeping with the current trend amongst OEMs but they say it is the “all-in-one device that users have been looking for.”
The NCP-302 has dual 3-inch woofers and and a 1-inch tweeter and it is housed in an elegant-looking wooden cabinet. There are physical, direct access buttons so you can control some aspects of it even without holding your smartphone or audio source. There is a pause/play button, input select, and even an actual volume knob on top of the speaker. Some other specs have not been released yet, but we can expect to know more about it in the next few days during the CEDIA 2016.
But of course the main attraction of the speakers is the fact that it supports all kinds of technologies and protocols including Google Cast, Apple’s AirPlay, Play-Fi from DTS and of course, Onkyo’s own FireConnect. So if your device supports any of these, then you can stream your music to the NCP-302 wireless speakers. It can also be connected through an Ethernet port, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm auxiliary port.
There are no pricing or availability details yet. But you can get the Onkyo NCP-302 in two colors: all black or a white and beige combination. Of course we’ll know more about it when it’s officially unveiled at CEDIA 2016, which has already started and will go on until the 17th.
