Google is proud to announce that its OnHub router has just turned a year old. The brand is celebrating its first year anniversary of changing the router and home network game. It’s been a year since this OnHub was placed in the homes with the goal of making things smarter for everyone in the household.
Google teamed up with Philips to deliver Philips Lighting. It’s a connected home device that can be control directly from the OnHub. It’s actually a first to not require an app to be downloaded. This way, it’s easier to control the Philips Hue lights at home. Anyone at home connected to the OnHub can control the Philips Hue lights by simply typing “On.Here” in a browser whether on a desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
So for example there’s a party at home, your guests can control the Philips Hue Lights from any device. They can do that not to annoy you but to help you get the party started.
Philips Hue is only one of the many things you can enjoy with the OnHub. With the router, you can do more like setup a guest network, check what’s slowing down with the Network Check, search for the fastest WiFi, stay secure, and even control with a handwave.
Feel free to customize not just the name of the OnHub network but also the router itself with custom-designed shells. The latter you can create and order on the OnHub Makers site.
As we already know, device supports IFTTT which means you can customize other basic tasks.
