The OnePlus 3 is no doubt a serious contender in the flagship market. With its robust specs and cheaper-than-most pricing, most people will be remiss not to consider it if they wanted to buy a top tier phone. That said, some questions were thrown at the young Chinese company for the way their display was configured and especially at how aggressive the RAM management was in killing apps. The new update for OxygenOS actually gives solutions for these issues.
As you may already know, OxygenOS is the proprietary Android skin that OnePlus designed for the OnePlus 2, OnePlus X and the new OnePlus 3, resulting from their falling out with Cyanogen. For the OnePlus 3 particularly, there were questions as to how the software was managing the 6GB RAM included in the phone, and that it should not be as aggressive in killing apps as it is. The new update says that it has “improved RAM management”, so we hope that issue is fixed.
Another question was that sRGB mode for the AMOLED display was not available, and that is now fixed in this update. There are other goodies like enhanced audio playback quality, updated custom icon packs, improved camera functionality, and fixes to some outstanding issues.
The update is nearly 400MB, so it would be wise to be on a steady WiFi connection when applying the update. It is currently in staggered rollout, so you will get your update notification within 48 hours. If you’re itching for the update, go into settings and tap on that “check for software update” button until your fingers bleed.
