In two days, OnePlus will finally be launching the much-anticipated second device from their line, the OnePlus 2. But before that big day, the Chinese smartphone maker has released a few things already, including the app for the launch and the reservation list for the invites (purchasing is still on a per invite basis). Someone (and we’re not saying it’s OnePlus) has also leaked a supposed AnTuTu test on the new smartphone, although the results may not be as great as expected.
Now it’s surprisingly rare for brands to use an app to launch a new product. Usually it’s a live stream or YouTube link that people who aren’t actually there at the launch can click on. But the OnePlus 2 launch app is now available for download, although the experience would be more complete if you use a VR headset. In fact, OnePlus has already released its own VR device, the Cardboard, which you can use with the app. But for those who do not have any, they can still watch through the launch app, although the Cardboard-free experience may not be as immersive.
Meanwhile, if you’re really excited to get the OnePlus 2, you should already be familiar with how the selling goes on. You can’t just go to any online or physical store; you need to get an invite. To celebrate the upcoming launch, they’ve come up with a OnePlus 2 reservation list, and if you’re still lucky, you’re still one of the few to get an invite instead of waiting for those who’ve already bought the new smartphone, or joining any of their contests.
There is also a video that has been leaked, purportedly showing the OnePlus 2 undergo a an AnTuTu test, which is a GPU performance test on an Android smartphone. But the results were not that impressive, especially since it supposedly runs on a Snapdragon 810. But again, you should not judge the smartphone yet based on this unconfirmed video, so let’s just wait until it’s actually launched and tested.
