OnePlus 3T now ready to receive OxygenOS 3.5.3

OnePlus has unveiled the OnePlus 3T and the device has been compared to a number of other flagship phones. Most notable was that speed charging test that compared it with the Google Pixel. The OnePlus 3T came out as the winner but we have yet to use it comprehensively. It’s a OnePlus phone so we can expect it to receive more regular updates compared to its rivals. True enough, the first one is now ready for the OnePlus 3T as announced recently by the Chinese OEM.

OnePlus 3T is officially getting the OxygenOS 3.5.3. Roll-out has begun so expect to receive an OTA notification anytime soon. Numerous features have been added to the OnePlus 3T including the OnePlus community app, motion detection in camera, and emergency calling for India. To make an emergency call, simply press the power button three times. Image capturing quality has been enhanced while the GPS library and touch panel firmware have been updated.

OnePlus also optimized location accuracy and touch precision. You’ll notice the redesigned clock UI, calling UI, and the obvious increase in stability. As with any other updates, this one brings important error fixes. Release will still be incremental but every OnePlus 3T owners should receive it anytime soon.

This update is a bit too early but some people are complaining of poor performance on touch latency. It’s something not expected of a flagship device but XDA members are saying that there is a delay between the touchscreen and input. A video shows the OnePlus 3T’s touch latency is only at 93ms which is unacceptable since most flagships should be at around 50ms. This means the display is not as sensitive to touch so it can be difficult to navigate.

A smartphone display needs to be responsive and the new OnePlus 3T and the original variant seem to be slow on that area. It may not be noticeable immediately but it will be obvious once more apps are launched and used at once. Hopefully, the recent update will bring the improvements needed.
