A new beta update for Microsoft‘s cloud storage OneDrive brings a feature that other cloud services have had for some time now, and a weird feature for Android Wear devices that may be practically useless for now. If you sign up to get access to the beta update, you will be able to get native PDF support finally so you can properly view documents in that format and you’ll also get a watchface even though you still won’t be able to launch One Drive from your wearable.
A lot of documents sent through emails and cloud storage apps are in PDF format, and before, OneDrive did not have a native viewer for them. But now with the beta update, you’ll be able to open the PDF documents from within the app itself. You can choose to browse it in a grid style or just read the document page by page.
The other new feature is a bit more confusing. OneDrive still cannot be opened on the Android Wear smartphone but it now has a watchface. The changelog says that you will be able to use it to view stored photos on the cloud, but it seems that part isn’t working yet and all uses can see are the stock photos. Maybe it’s a bug that they’re still working on for now.
Meanwhile, the earlier news that Chromecast support will finally be available for OneDrive is apparently incorrect, as per the response of their official account on Google Plus to a user’s comment. They are still currently working on bringing that feature though, so maybe it will be part of the next major update. If you want to experience the latest beta update, you need to join their Google+ testing community.
