In another round of Microsoft-brings-small-but-neat-goodies-to-apps, the recipient of these new updates are the Office Mobile apps, specifically Word, Excel, and Powerpoint which can now be connected to Box and a couple of other cloud storage services. Microsoft’s digital personal assistant, Cortana, also receives an update where users will be able to receive better calendar reminders from the service as well as other minor tweaks and improvements for both loyal users and those looking for an alternative to Siri or Alexa or Google Assistant.
If you’re using the various Office Mobile apps to do your work on your phone or tablet, you would always want improvements to the apps. Word, Excel, and Powerpoint now get improved support for Talkback, keyboard, and other assistive technologies. You can also now connect your Box, Egnyte, and 腾讯微云 services to store and access your files in whatever platform you’re using it. You will also get notifications when someone edits your shared documents while Excel has a new Map chart type which can turn the geographical data you input there into professional-looking Maps.
As for Cortana, version 1.9.12 of the app adds a birthday reminder for you so you will not forget a loved one’s birthday ever again (well at least if you listen to Cortana). If you use more than just one calendar, you will now be able to connect all of them so you will not forget any of your appointments. The update also brings improvements to meeting retrieval and also location-based reminder accuracy.
You can update all the apps mentioned on their respective Google Play pages. Looking forward to more updates on other apps soon, so get going, Microsoft!
