Only a month after the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet got a a taste of Lollipop and a week after the SHIELD Hub was updated with some Material Design features, the tablet is getting another software upgrade. The Android 5.0.1 is now ready for the SHIELD tablet and it includes some minor but important enhancements on system performance, camera, and memory optimizations.
This SHIELD tablet software upgrade brings the latest version of Android Lollipop to the device. The Android 5.0.1 is only a minor release but it includes updates and some bug fixes. You’ll also see some improvements in app responsiveness and general user interface. You’ll notice that switching between apps is a bit smoother and faster. As for its camera, Live HD Effects (HDFX) have been added to allow the user to make more creative photos and videos. This particular enhancement takes advantage of the Tegra K1 GPU processor to show full resolution and live-preview of images.
People asked for it so NVIDIA brought back the SHIELD Power Control Menu. For those apps that are memory-intensive, some optimizations and enhanced support have been made, as well as, localization improvements and OpenGL 4.5 graphics support.
Note that this is only a minor software update but it is highly recommended that you upgrade your SHIELD tablet for optimum performance.
