For all of you early adopters of the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Console, a small software update is coming your way. The update will bump you up to version 1.3, and is meant to fix wifi connectivity issues and brings optimizations for newly released apps and games. It’s really to make you enjoy your new console just a little bit more.
The previous update (1.2) expanded 4K support, allowing users to share 4K content to TVs that had Ultra HD resolution. This current update (1.3) makes your wifi connection that much stable, if you’ve gone wireless with your console.
The update also gives you support for newer games that have been made available for the console which we wrote up a few days ago. That list includes Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Never Alone, and Q.U.B.E. Check those titles out at your SHIELD Hub store or the Google Play Store.
It looks like NVIDIA is on a regular schedule when it comes to these minor software updates. This update comes just a few weeks after version 1.2 came out. Two weeks before that, update 1.1 upgraded the console to Android 5.1. Another update would probably reach us by early next month. Update 1.3’s payload is around 650MB in size, so it will take a bit of time to download.
