If you enjoy playing rogue like platformers that are a bit of a throwback graphics wise, then you probably enjoyed Devious Dungeon from Noodlecake Studios. Now, they’re back with the sequel, which of course is called Devious Dungeon 2. It features more of the same, but of course with a little bit of improvement, but don’t expect radical changes, since after all, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just create a sequel that’s not so far off the map from the original, and if people really liked the first, you probably have a winner.
From the title itself, you can expect a lot of monsters, creatures, and deviousness. You’re playing in a castle filled with treacherous halls that reveal different monsters. But you need to go in there because the rumor is there are a lot of treasures here “beyond imagination”. The reason why it’s so difficult is that the summoner lives here and he doesn’t like it when strangers come in and take the riches that are stored in the castle (or rather, rumored).
In this sequel, there are five worlds that you can play in, each with randomized maps. There are also 3 hero classes that you can play; Barbarian, Mage or Rogue. They each have their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses that you’ll learn and eventually master. Your characters can also be upgraded through an RPG style mechanic. There are also mini-bosses, collectible treasures, mission system, and other achievements that you need to collect.
Devious Dungeon 2 is available at the Google Play Store for $1.99. There are also in-app purchases, so if someone’s borrowing your phone to play the game, make sure the proper permissions are in place.
