Nike has been running a pretty successful running community the past few years, and even though the fitness activity is not as popular now as it was a couple of years back, they still have a pretty strong presence on the track and online as well. That’s why it’s not really a surprise that Nike continues to strengthen their products that appeal to the runners, and that includes rebranding their app, previously known as Nike+ Running, to the new Nike+ Run Club.

The rename is not just because it wants to follow in the footsteps of the Nike+ Training Club, which focuses more on weight and strength training. This is also because the new features of the app points to a more personalized yet social aspect of running for fitness or training. One of the new things they’re introducing here is their adaptive coaching engine. It lets you choose a workout and running plan and then adjusts to the progress you make as you start. There are different categories like “Getting Started” obviously for the newbie and “Get More Fit” to those who are running for weight loss or fitness reasons.

The social and sharing part of the app has also been revitalized, because Nike believes that your friends and the entire community can help motivate you towards reaching your goal. There is a new NRC (that’s Nike+ Run Club if you didn’t get it) hashtag challenge feature that you can participate in, plus new social tools like photo sharing, new Nike stickers, hashtags, and the NRC feed itself.

You also get expert tips and news relevant to your running lifestyle and from the best elite athletes and coaches in the field. The app also seamlessly connects with the Nike+ app, which is more product centric, although they refuse to call it a shopping app. In any case, you can download the new and rebranded Nike+ Run Club app from the Google Play Store for free.
