We cringe when we remember what happened to the last Pokemon GO Festival that Niantic put up. The game was young then, and there were many technical issues with Pokemon GO during the festival at Grant Park, Chicago in 2017. The whole thing resulted in a lawsuit and Niantic had to go through a settlement just so they could move forward. Now Niantic is announcing Pokemon GO Fest 2018, which will take place in Lincoln Park in Chicago from July 14 to 15.
This year’s event is still the biggest single Pokemon GO event in North America, and it will be officially called “Pokemon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park”. According to Niantic, “The event will be held in the city’s historic Lincoln Park, with a 1.8-mile walking course that, among the tree-lined greenery, will include exclusive activities for Trainers of all ages.” Here’s hoping that this year’s event will be better than the last.
In Europe, Niantic is also putting up a “Pokemon GO Safari Zone” event in Dortmund, Germany. “Together with the city of Dortmund, we will host an event from June 30 to July 1 in beautiful Westfalenpark. Westfalenpark is not only one of the largest inner-city parks in Europe but also includes elaborate water features, a Japanese garden, and large playgrounds for kids and families.” This event is an open event, so all trainers who can get to the area are invited to join the event.
The Pokemon GO Fest 2018 single day passes will go on sale for USD$20.00 starting May 11 via the official website. Check out the link for more details regarding the event.
