Gone are the days when all you need from your earphones is the ability to listen to music on your mobile device. Now we’re seeing a lot of “smart” earphones that have all these multiple functions aside from being just a listening device. A project on IndieGoGo, the Nextear, claims to be the smartest wireless earphones in the market as it can also charge your smartphone, serve as an external storage device, give you LED light, and of course, still listen “old-school” style to your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
The Nextear is composed of two tiny in-ear wireless devices that can be paired with any Bluetooth-capable device. It promises that there is no latency between the device to the earphones and even one earphone from the other so that there is no gen-loss on its stereo ADC and DAC when you listen to your music or when you watch your videos on your device. It also uses Balanced Armature Speaker and supports high quality stereo outputs. You can just use one earbud while the other one is charging in the Nextear container.
Speaking of that container, it also gives your earphones more functionality than just for listening. It can also charge your smartphone with the built-in cable that can connect to any micro-USB device, and even lightning cable devices (for iPhones and iPods). It also has a 16GB flash memory so you can store your music, pictures and files in it, giving your smartphone a little room to breathe, and carrying important files with you. It has a key hook as well, so you can carry it with your keys and stuff. It can also serve as a light in dark places as it is equipped with an LED light. Of course it is also a container for your tiny earbuds, and if you happen to misplace them, you can use the Nextear app and its radar function to detect it.
It looks like a lot of people are excited to have this device, as it has reached 445% of its goal, and with still 28 days to go until the end of the campaign. You can still support it for as low as $145 for 1 Nextear unit, with free shipping worldwide. Estimated delivery for this smart wireless earphone is sometime October this year.
