I’m seeing a pattern here: Microsoft has been updating the Next Lock Screen almost every month. There was one released last December and another one last month. Microsoft’s experimental Garage Team seems to be busy with all the updates and the new releases we’ve been seeing lately.
Before this update, Microsoft also introduced the Picturesque Lock Screen. It’s a similar app but it brings Bing home page images the lock screen of the Android device. From more personalization and weather status to more messaging support and music controls on the past couple of releases, the Next Lock Screen now allows locking the smartphone with a special Pattern or PIN code.
Microsoft’s lockscreen app now also supports three languages: English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. Microsoft decided to disable the home button press too to prevent accidental unlocks on the display. And as with previous updates, performance has been improved and more bugs have been fixed.
The Next Lock Screen also serves as a time saver lock screen. You can view text messages, missed calendars, calendar, or any other information you want to know at a single glance. When someone calls you, you can answer the phone in a single tap. No need to unlock the phone. For your favorite apps, you can use the quick app launch feature.
Lock the smartphone with a PIN or Pattern. This new feature prevents accidental unlocks that have been the most common problem with the past versions. Good thing Microsoft fixed the issue. The Music Player Controls added during the previous update can still be used, as well as, One swipe to dial.
