Battery life often becomes an issue. For many though, you can find time throughout the day to plug in for a bit. The problem gets a bit worse for those who are out and about, and for that there is always the option to use a spare battery or an external battery back. There are a wide variety of these types of options available and it looks like New Trent has recently released the PowerPak Xtreme.
The PowerPak Xtreme, as the name would imply, is a rugged device. In fact, this one is said to be “built for the rugged.” It is drop-resistant and waterproof to 3 feet of water for up to an hour. With that in mind, the battery pack still weighs in at just 9 ounces. And for those curious it measures in at 5.2 x 2.8 x 1.2-inches.
Perhaps more important here, New Trent has this one packed with a 12,000 mAh battery, which should be able to provide at least a few charges depending on the device you are carrying. The Xtreme also two USB ports — one is 1A and the other is 2.1A. This battery pack is able to charge smartphones and tablets and is sporting a matte black finish.
The PowerPak Xtreme is available at this time and can be found direct from the New Trent website or with Amazon. Bottom line here, this one should be good for those looking for some extra power and slightly better for those who may be in need of that extra power while on the trails or engaged in some other types of outdoor activity.

Anker’s got a 15k mAh pack called the Astro e5 and it’s smaller and lighter than this puppy. 😉 Also, their next-gen stuff is pretty epic, too.
This looks clumsy. RAVPower has a 14000mAh. It’s with a sleak design and cheaper price.
