Qualcomm has unveiled a new generation LTE Multimode modem that is capable of very fast download speeds of up to 450 Mbps. The announcement of the new modem makes Qualcomm the first company to announce an LTE Advanced Category 10 modem capable of 450 Mbps downlink 3x carrier aggregation.

The modem is capable of up to 100 Mbps speeds on uplink 2x carrier aggregation. The new modem is called the Qualcomm Gobi 9×45 modem and along with the modem, the second generation Qualcomm RF360 Envelope Tracer called the QFE3100 was also unveiled.

The two products are designed to work together to support fast downloads, faster app performance, and enhanced thermal efficiency along with optimized power consumption. The modem integrates all major cellular standards including DC-HSPA, EVDO, CDMA 1x, GSM, and TD-SCDMA.

The modem also supports all major RF bands and band combinations along with GPS, Beidou, Glonass, and Galileo support. Support for LTE Broadcast, VoLTE, and LTE Dual SIM is also integrated into the modem. It’s unclear when devices using the new modem and other product will hit the market.
