As the new devices for 2014 roll in, a lot of the older devices and standards have had to adjust and tweak themselves to play nice with the current crop of smartphones, phablets, and tablets. One of those is Chromecast, Google’s streaming-slash-screen casting dongle that now allows more gadgets to connect to it for more big-screen streaming goodness.
Added to the list of supported devices are smartphones and tablets that recently launched, and Google has been good enough to allow them to play with Chromecast. These devices are – the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, the new gadgets from the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z2 line – Sony Xperia Z3v, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Sony Xperia Z2, and the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. Also included are the Tesco hudl2, and the TrekStor SurfTab xintron i 7.0.
The TrekStor SurfTab xinitron i 7.0 (whew!) is certainly a mouthful to say out loud, but it was one of the first tablets to subscribe to Intel’s reference design for tablets powered by their own processors. Nice to see that Google is allowing some devices that are not so common to utilize the Chromecast.
That said, casting your screen to Chromecast using Android is just a matter of installing the Chromecast app – available via the Google Play Store – and connecting to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast device. Pretty easy, right? If you have these devices listed above, you can certainly go ahead and give it a try now.
