While parents are always searching for ways how to limit their kids’ usage of gadgets, here’s BBC putting the kids in control. No, the British broadcasting network isn’t teaching the young children to disobey the adults. With the new BBC iPlayer Kids app, the kids are given the chance to exercise their freedom and experience having control of what they watch. Of course, everything will still be subject to the supervision of adults, as well as, curation by the experts.

Parents need not to worry because titles are limited to CBeebies and CBBC shows only. However, there are more than 10,000 episodes in the gallery so children may have a hard time choosing what to watch. The app is guaranteed to be child-friendly which means it’s easy to navigate and parents can be assured that all accessible content, videos, movies, and shows are age-appropriate. Unlike in YouTube where kids can be directed to the weirdest parts of web, the BBC iPlayer Kids app will only offer shows like Go Jetters, Topsy & Tim, The Dumping Ground, Wolfblood, or Blue Peter.

Parents and guardians still need to set one or two profiles on the app first. You can share a tablet among the family and save up to a maximum of four profiles. If you have two kids, each one can have his own account so personalize and search settings can be saved.

You need to enter the age of the child so the app will know what content to serve. Shows will be streamed but you can also download them for offline viewing.
