Nest isn’t all about thermostats. The Google-owned company also provides outdoor cameras that can very well be a good addition to any smart home. The idea is like a CCTV cam but this new security camera works and interacts with other Nest products. With a compatible Nest app, a smart home owner can manage and control this outdoor cam including viewing the secured areas in Full HD from anywhere.
Nest customers are now free to use the Indoor features like Talk and Listen and activity alerts. There’s also the Person alert that’s a special feature of the Nest Aware service. If you’re a subscriber, you can choose to be notified if somebody comes into view. Google has been working on such intelligent alerts that will hopefully be able to tell other activities at home especially when you’re not around.
Nest has just updated its dedicated app with new features. The software enables other Nest products to do more functions. The app now has a newer interface where you can see your Nest products per room and across multiple platforms. The app offers a totally new camera experience you won’t usually get in ordinary security cameras.
Meanwhile, the new Nest Cam Outdoor can be a good investment because it allows secure streaming and clear live video capture 24/7. The camera is weatherproof and offers easy outdoor setup. The device can also last longer even if installed outside the home and is exposed to extreme weather conditions and temperatures.
The outdoor camera can record HD videos in a 130° view and even at night with the infrared LEDs for the Night Vision function. There’s also the Talk and Listen that allows you to talk to the person you see on camera with the mic and speaker.
The Nest Cam takes advantage of the cloud and algorithms that make the device really smart. Intelligent alerts are slowly becoming a trend that you might forget how life can be without them. You can pre-order for one from Nest for only $199 or from BestBuy in the US and Canada. The cam will also be ready in France, Belgium, UK, Netherlands, and the Republic of Ireland.
