Fans of the MX Player video playing app that have devices on Android 5.0 can now download a new and updated version of MX Player that works with your OS. The updated version of the app landed on November 21 and brought with it some other new features in addition to support for Android 5.0.
The other new features include an added View menu for media list screen allowing users to select view mode, sort order, and display fields. MX Player also now supports MOD audio files including files with .mod, .sm3, .xm, and .it extensions among others.
Develops added a “Scroll to last played media” feature under Settings > List. The app also gains a “Toggle playback with play button” feature in the settings menu. Audio tracks can also be disabled in the audio track selection box of the app.
As always, MX Player supports hardware acceleration, gestures for controlling playback, and kids lock to keep kids away from content they don’t need to see. The size of the download varies with the device. MX Player has proven to be very popular with as many as 500 million installs so far. The current version of the app varies with the device you are using.
