Mugen has made a name for itself as a great alternative battery for the most popular smartphones. Every time an OEM will release a new flagship or a new major smartphone, you can expect that they are not far behind and will be announcing a new battery case or extended battery, made especially for whatever new device it is. This time, it’s the turn of the LG G4 to get an extended battery from Mugen, and it is something that will give your smartphone twice the power as compared to the original battery.

The HLI-G4XL Mugen Power 6200mAh Extended Battery for LG G4 (whew, what a long name) is a lithium ion battery, that if you replace it with the existing battery of the LG G4, can give you 2.07 times the power. The original battery just has 3000 mAh, and with the amount of time we normally spend on our smartphone, and with the activities we do on it, like playing games, using various apps, etc, that battery life is definitely not enough.

Mugen also claims that their extended batteries are sometimes more reliable than the original ones, as they undergo various vigorous QA testing and is in compliance of course with the CE requirements. The past few months, Mugen has released battery cases and extended batteries for various devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Xperia Z3, and the HTC One M9, with almost all giving twice the power to the respective devices.

The LG G4 Mugen extended battery can be bought for just $89.50 if you buy directly from the the Mugen website. It also gives your device a tougher look, although it is a bit bulkier than the regular battery too.

  1. Yes, the back plate looks horrible but my issue is I won’t be able to use my QI Quick Circle case then. I could more than likely get a QI chip to wirelessly charge but would it even work through this case or for this battery? They have a battery on their site for the G4 that gives 3% more power but that’s not even worth it. Just give me a 40%-50% increase and I’ll be set. This horrible OEM battery life is making me want to spend cash to refurb my G Flex.
