Motorola is one of the first OEMs to release their proprietary apps into the Google Play Store for better access for users and it also makes it easier for them to update the apps. Two of those apps are the Motorola Camera and Motorola Gallery, and now they are getting Material Design updates, as Android Lollipop continues to make its way slowly to devices.

Aside from getting a design update, Motorola Camera also receives a few minor updates so that those using this camera app for their smartphones and smartwatches (obviously Motorola owners) can have an even easier time using their devices for mobile picture taking. The app now has a timer option so when you need to have a few seconds to prepare yourselves before the camera snaps a shot. And if you need to quickly launch your front-facing camera (now mostly referred to as the selfie cam), you just need to twist your phone and it will switch to that from the main cam.

The Motorola Gallery app lets you view and share the pictures and videos you take from your mobile device and give it a few personal touches with filters, frames and other designs. The latest update gives it a Material Design look, which Google has been touting for some months now and is an essential part of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. According to its changelog, there are also some performance improvements although it was not specified what those are.

If you have a Motorola device, you should be able to receive the update on your phone already if you’ve turned on the automatic update option. If not, you can go to the Google Play Store pages of the Motorola Camera and Motorola Gallery to update.
