For Motorola smartphone owners, the Motorola Gallery app can be a great way to organize and edit the photos you take, especially if you’re a mobile photo taker (aren’t we all?). The latest update to the app brings a brand new look based of course on Google’s Material Design, better options for camera roll sorting and UI improvements for the Highlight Reel.
The Material Design guidelines is something that apps have willingly embraced, but the real good ones can still tweak it to match their standard design. Motorola Gallery has done just that with the new look for the app that also improves its functionality. The Camera Roll view now can sort through all your photos and arrange them by event and time. Cropping photos is also important for mobile photographers, and this update now gives users easier access to it.
The Highlight Reel, where you can create short videos out of selected pictures in your gallery, is also now available for Moto X (1st gen), Moto X (2nd gen) and Droid Ultra. There are also now more free music available to enhance and personalize your Highlight Reel. A lot of apps are going this route, giving users the chance to create instant videos of their photos, but having a native app for your Motorola device (well, if you have any of the aforementioned smartphones) is sometimes more convenient.
Of course the update also has the usual stability, performance enhancements, and bug fixes. The update for Motorola Gallery is already rolling out. You can manually check if it is now available by going to your Google Play Store and checking for updates.
