We had heard grumblings about it in the community, and now we can safely say that the update to Android 2.2 for the Motorola Droid X is out there, doing its thing. Of course, this isn’t the official update from Verizon, so it’s not an Over the Air (OTA) update, which means if you’re not accustomed to sifting around your device’s inner workings, then you’re probably better off just waiting.
The update to Froyo comes courtesy of Droid World. Thanks to the hard working developers all over the place (you know who you are), the build is ready to go on your new X. The full instructions are through the source link, so if you’re interested in getting the latest build of Android before everyone else (who’s waiting), then take a shot and let us know in the comments how it goes. Or, you could just wait until September, when Verizon’s rumored to release the OTA to everyone else. Your call.
