You know how it is in the mobile industry. A top phone is easily and quickly replaced by a new model that just came out. The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is no different. It may not be the best but you can place it beside the latest top phones benchmarked by DxOMark recently. Because of the Turbo 2’s 21 megapixel rear camera, we’re interested to know how the photos will come out. Camera performance is being tested every time because the feature and its results can easily be measured.
Motorola DROID Turbo 2’s 21Mp rear camera is very much similar to what the Motorola X Style has inside. Overall, DxOMark Mobile is 84 from a couple of 84s for the DxOMark Mobile Photo and Video. The photo capabilities of the Turbo 2 deliver very strong detail preservation especially in good lighting conditions, where you can’t see any noise at all. Colors are pleasant while white balance is accurate. Picture are well-exposed when take by the DROID Turbo 2 camera. Unfortunately, you can notice some chromatic noise and strong luminance shading when flash is used. In low-light conditions, you won’t see the fine details.
When it comes to Mobile Video, details are also well-preserved and good stabilization is evident. Pleasant color rendering is delivered. When changing scenes, fast white balance and exposure adaptation are obvious. As for the cons, autofocus is slow to trigger in low light and after the scene changes. Object tracking is inconsistent and autofocus instabilities are visible according to DxOMark. You’ll see chromatic noise visible in the corners and some strong luminance noise especially in low light.
Results are good overall. The phone is better than the Moto X Style and can trail behind the Sony Xperia Z5. All three phones are now in the Top 3.
