After the highly popular Droid release, another Android phone planned by Motorola has been unearthed from the company’s own user agent profile database – this time with the more unassuming code-name ‘Ruth’, and a model number MB551.
Digging through, the database reveals a 240 x 320 QVGA display (the Droid is 480 x 854), a QWERTY keyboard, a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz CPU (identical to the HTC Droid Eris chip), Bluetooth 2.0, and a GSM / WCDMA radio of some sort. It’ll probably run on GSM with 3G bands.
It seems that only the dated Android 1.5 Cupcake firmware is mentioned in the browser specs, so let’s hope that an Eclair update is whipped out soon by. Why isn’t it even running something more up-to-date in the first place? Maybe someone should just go and announce to every phone maker out there that Android 1.5 is not exactly the shiniest version out there– 2.1 is already here.
