The new Moto phone is finally out. No need to be curious if Motorola would be launching a new RAZR because there’s no new flip phone–only a new razor-thin smartphone known as the Moto Z Droid. It’s not just another Moto phone because it works with Moto Mods. As speculated, it’s a new modular phone system that can very well rival the LG G5 and the yet to be finalized Project Ara. As for Motorola, the company has introduced the Moto Mods together with the Moto Z Droid. This means you can use the Moto Z phone even without the Moto Mods.
Details on the Moto Mods are scarce but we already noted four types: the Moto Insta-Share Projector, the JBL SoundBoost Speaker, and the stylish battery packs from Kate Spade New York and TUMI. Earlier before the official announcement, we noted some possible mods including a Power Mod, Stereo Mod, Style Mod, Theater Mod, Adventure Mod, and Pro camera Mod. We’re assuming the first three mods listed are already the four Motorola showed off last week.
HellomotoHK, one of our trusted sources for all things Motorola, published some new photos of the upcoming Moto Mods. There’s the Pro Camera Mod, Adventure Mod, Theater Amp, Power Amp, Adventure Amp, and StyleAmp. There’s also a mention of the 6W Speaker and the 2200mAh power which we’re guessing is the Power Amp. Of course, Motorola still offers personalization of the Moto Z Droid/Moto Mod with the waterproof and many options for the easily swappable covers.
There’s also a reference to a Moto Vertex (Vector Maxx) which could be the Moto Z Play. We don’t have enough information but judging from the images in the gallery, we know Motorola has really prepared well for the Moto Z Droid. The first set of Moto Z Moto Mods seems to offer many functions and features that are quite needed these days in the mobile world.
