Even though Motorola has released a brand new 2014 version of the Moto G, carrier AT&T has decided to announce that they are carrying the previous (but apparently still great) version of the flagship phone. The Moto G LTE version is now available for both no contract and contract subscribers. It is Motorola’s best-selling budget phone after all, so it’s not really that much of a surprise (well, except that we expected the newer version right?)
The Moto G, not to be confused with the Moto G (2014), may not be the most high-end device with the best specifications in the market, but it does have something to boast about, particularly given its price value. It has a 720×1280 IPS LCD display and runs on Quad-core Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400. It has a 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera. Again, it’s not something to sing home about, but in terms of value for money, it’s not bad at all. And the original Moto G is the best-selling Motorola device in the OEM’s history, so there really must be something to it.
What’s the difference between the Moto G LTE and the new Moto G 2014 (they really should have thought of a better and less confusing name)? There’s very little actually, except the newer device now has front-facing speakers (presumably for when you take videos of yourself) and a better camera.
If you want the Moto G LTE off-contract, you need to pay $179.99, a good bargain already as compared to other smartphones of its caliber in other carriers. You can also get it in the Next18 ($7.50 per month) or the Next12 ($9 per month) program of AT&T.
