So the problem really with buying a Samsung Gear 360 camera is that the app for controlling it – which is the Gear 360 Manager app – only works on Samsung devices, and even then, only the newer ones. That means you have to own a supported device before even thinking of buying one. Unless… the app could be modded to work on non-Samsung phones. Now where would we look for someone to do that?
At the XDA developer forum, of course. And we have just that – a modded Gear 360 Manager app that works on non-Samsung devices – made by XDA developer “Bin4ry”. Pretty cool, yes? Now you can install the modded app on a phone you own, or even an older Samsung device that wasn’t originally supported.

Of course, it has to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop or better, and you need to install the Samsung Accessory Service app from the Play Store. The developer says, “In the last days I was working on a port of the Gear 360 Manager app. You should be able to use the app now even with non-Galaxy devices, or older Galaxy devices which are not officially supported by Samsung. I myself use it with a Sony Xperia Z5 without problems now.”
If you want to check out the official XDA thread, see the source link below. It also contains the download links for the modded app for your use.
