Quoting the late great Michael Jackson’s last concert series “This Is It”, Mizuu founder and developer Michell Bak announced that he was leaving the project he started due to various reasons. While the app would still be available for download elsewhere, he also said that he will be pulling out the app from the Google Play Store. While it is one of the more popular app manager for local files, he has had a few problems with Google over store policies.

But in his farewell letter, Bak did not mention anything about his issues with Google, but instead talked about how he lost interest with this project, due in part to his health problems. He has been pretty open about his struggles with not being passionate anymore about developing the app, and now he has reached the point where he believes it is unhealthy both for him and for the project itself. While he admits that he is doing a little better now than he was previously, it still is not enough to continue developing the app.

Mizuu will now be pulled from the Google Play Store, but there are still people interested to download the app, it will still be up on the website, which will remain open for now. The source code will also still be up on GitHub and he is open to the idea of someone contributing to the project and maintaining the code base.

This is pretty sad news for those who relied on Mizuu to manage their media apps on their mobile devices. Yes, you probably still have your device’s file explorer, but the app brought a lot to the table. Yes, you can still use it, but updates will not be coming, unless something better comes along of course.
