AT&T customers can now opt for a more affordable version of the LG G3 flagship device. The new LG G3 Vigor, fresh from being launched by other US carriers as well, is a specced-down version of the G3 where the South Korean manufacturer is hoping to get a piece of the mid-range market.
The LG G3 Vigor – contrary to earlier assumptions from when LG applied for trademark that it was going to be a rugged model – is basically a r-branded LG G3 Beat. It’s powered by a 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor backstopped by 1GB of RAM – which should be enough for mid-range usage. Gone is the Quad HD display and replaced by a more modest 5-inch 1280×720 HD IPS display.
It will be sporting a very acceptable 8MP/1.3MP camera combo, and a rather less generous 8GB of internal storage. LG has always given its premium devices good battery capacity, and the 2,540mAh unit on the LG G3 Vigor looks like it’s going to be enough for the job, especially as it will be running a more efficient OS in the Android 4.4 KitKat. Users can expand storage through microSD by as much as 32GB more.
AT&T has not given any information on the pricing and the contract for the device yet, but an informed guess would be that it would come free under a 2-year contract. Paying for the device all in would most likely cost users around USD$300 or thereabouts. We will keep a lookout for this device and give you information as soon as we catch wind of it.
