There were plans, as early as two years ago, to bring Microsoft’s successful Age of Empires franchise to mobile, but the run-up to what we have today was a bit strange to say the least. First up, there was an announcement around April last year about Age of Empires: World Domination, and that the game will be launched December of 2014. That didn’t happen. Well, it looks like it’s happening now.

Microsoft is soft-launching Age of Empires: World Domination in select countries worldwide, so you might want to check the download link down below if your country is part of that. We were kinda losing hope if this game will ever see the light of day. In mid-2015, Microsoft put out Age of Empires: Castle Siege which followed the similar casual strategy formula as Clash of Clans. We thought that was it for Age of Empires, but here we are now. View the teaser trailer, if you please.

Strategy games can only go so far on the mobile platform, but developer KLab Global seems to think this title can differentiate itself enough. They’re touting a “revolutionary real-time battle system”, but you have to try out the game to see what that means.

For now, it’s in soft launch stage, so get it if you can, and tell us if this will be able to make itself some room in an already crowded strategy gaming market on Android.
