Anyone who has played Minecraft both on mobile and on PC will know that the PC version is the more robust of the two when it comes to features and what you can do. You can still point that down to better hardware on desktops, but not so much these days. Of course, Minecraft for mobile is still a big hit, as it allows you to play the open world, free creation game wherever you are, albeit with limited features – but maybe not for long.

You spend USD$7.00 on the Minecraft mobile edition, and it allows you to play the core of the game, but without getting really deep into what makes Minecraft amazing. Even the new version on Windows 10 mobile is still limited. To this, Microsoft is thinking of adding more robust features to truly give Minecraft mobile some expansive action.

Microsoft is set to add programmable items called command blocks to the game on mobile and Windows 10. The company also hopes to enable mods on both those versions, too. Hardcore Minecraft fans know that mods and command blocks open up a whole new level of flexibility to the game, and if these features are made available on mobile – that is, quite literally, a game changer.

There is no timeframe yet on this ambitious project, but this should get the nod of Minecraft fans all over. We also don’t know if this will affect the pricing of the game when it happens – most likely, it will.
