Microsoft Office 365 was made available for Android last year and with it come security options for several accounts with multi-factor authentication. To be sure, users are asked to enter a password. That seems easy to do and anyone can access a document but there’s a second level of security that requires you to respond to a phone notification, text message, or a phone call. This security feature has been working on smartphones and PCs but unfortunately, there was no support given for tablets.

There was nothing for tablets until this week when Microsoft made some changes on the Office apps for Android. The latest Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps now require the multi-factor authentication. These three apps also support Mobile Application Management with Microsoft Intune.

Performance enhancements and several bug fixes were included as expected. The enhanced apps can allow users to set each app and restrict copying of company data from Office apps to personals apps, app level encryption and app level PIN.

Microsoft Word for Tablet, PowerPoint for Tablet, and Microsoft Excel for Tablet are all ready for download from the Google Play Store. These apps are free but in-app purchases are offered for more advanced Office 365 mobile experience.
