Meizu is one of those China-based manufacturers trying to get a piece of the global smartphone market, and with the aggressiveness typical of these Chinese companies, it’s no surprise that Meizu’s flagship offerings have become better and better over the years. The company just went official with the Meizu MX6, a slim flagship smartphone that offers robust specs inside.
First up, we need to tell you that the Meizu MX6 is hecka thin at 7.25mm. Apple, kings of style and tech chic, have the iPhone 6S plus at 7.3mm. The main culprit of the MX6’s thickness (or lack of it) is the 5.5-inch FullHD (1080p) LCD screen that uses Incell technology. Where other displays use layer upon layer of elements for the screen, Incell tech uses only one layer, hence the thin-ness of the Meizu MX6.
This phone is powered by the robust deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, which is MediaTek’s answer to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon flagship series. That will be supported by 4GB RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage. Also, this is the first time we’re hearing of the Sony IMX386 camera sensor which delivers 12MP for the MX6’s main shooter. You also get a 3,060mAh battery with Meizu’s mCharge quick charging technology that claims to give you 25% charge in 10 minutes and a full charge in just over an hour. Everything will run under Android Marshmallow out of the box.
Of course, the best argument for a Meizu MX6 is still the price point – you can get this for USD$299, a pittance compared to the price points of other flagship phones out there. The problem is that you usually won’t be able to get Meizu phones in the US, unless you get it from 3rd party retail shops.
