Meizu has always been known as one of the more popular Chinese OEMs but we bet you didn’t know or maybe forgot that it has other product offerings aside from smartphones. Perhaps we’re too focused on mobile devices but that’s fine. This idea of a wireless speaker is very much welcome any time especially if it boasts of a unique floating design.
Meizu isn’t introducing any ordinary wireless speaker. This one looks stylish with its floating design. Ironically, it’s called Gravity but it’s as if nothing is pulling it downwards. It’s actually “floating” in the sense that a mirror offers an optical illusion. Meizu lead designer, Japanese Kosho Tsuboi, designed this minimalist speaker. It’s obviously a Japanese-designed item because of the zen look and feel.
Over the years, Meizu is known to have partnered with several big names and experts like JBL, Bose, and Dirac. What’s interesting in this product is why Meizu is raising funds through Indiegogo. If this is a Meizu project, doesn’t the company have enough budget to pursue on its own? It’s a different setup but crowdfunding might be a good alternative to just getting investments or using resources on something you’re not really sure will be a success.
We’re not sure why Meizu took this route but it’s a different method that almost, always delivers positive news for everyone. The company is targeting the enterprise category so we know more people are wanting the same thing. Meizu’s first goal was to raise $100,000 but only $28K has been raised so far. It’s still one month away from the deadline though. Once the idea goes into production this October, expect to know more about the shipment and delivery dates.
