They say (who are they anyway?) that good things come to those who wait. AT&T subscribers who own a Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge had a longer wait than their counterparts from other carriers, but at least how the wait is over. The carrier has announced that they are rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for both former flagship devices starting May 17 so that means it may arrive at your smartphone doorstep anytime now.
Now that Marshmallow will be arriving to your smartphone, you will be able to enjoy what others who have already received the update are currently experiencing with their devices. This includes Google Now on Tap, which allows you to pull information from Google no matter where you are and without having to leave the current app you’re using; the ability to change notification settings per app like choosing which apps will still be able to send you notifs even if you’re in your Do Not Disturb mode; plus other new additions like video calling.
There are also some AT&T specific changes that you will receive. It has now removed Keeper, AT&T Live, and Facebook Messenger from the pre-loaded apps. AT&T Mail and YP Mobile Apps have also been moved to virtual preload so you can uninstall them easily if you want to. Amazon is now also added as a full preload.
The update is around 1.5GB in size so you better start making space on your smartphone if you’re already low on storage. You can either wait for the notification for an update to come to you or you can manually check for updates in the settings.
