Gone are the days when the only thing you would want to put on a tripod are your video cameras or SLRs. Nowadays, a lot of people have been using their smartphones for photo shoots, time lapse videography, video interviews etc. And while they are mostly handy and mobile, there are times when you’d need to attach it to something to stabilize it. Manfrotto is now bringing the TwistGrip so you can use any regular tripod with your smartphone.
The accessory is small enough that you can just put it in your pocket or slip in your bag and then bring it out whenever you would need to mount a smartphone onto a tripod or other accessories. It’s an adjustable clamp with a universal 1/4-inch thread that can grip any smartphone that is available in the market today. It may be tiny but Manfrotto says it has a heavy-duty grip and is made from high-quality aluminum from Italy.
To attach it to the accessory where you need to mount your device, you first have to twist it so that the bar would form into a c-shape and fit your smartphone. Then once you’ve placed your mobile phone in there, there is a locking knob which should keep it in place as it grips your phone. Manfrotto has a lot of other accessories to help you with your mobile devices, like lighting accessories for your mobile shoots and even its own mobile tripod.
The Manfrotto TwistGrip is available through their online store and should cost you $50. It may be a bit expensive for a tiny accessory, but the quality and the necessity are things you should factor in making the purchase.
